Artists / Instructors

Janet Cardinal
Janet Cardinal paints using watercolor, acrylics and oils, and is a regular instructor at Paint for Joy.
Pat Beeching: Pat started painting in1996. She painted as much as she could as well as working full time as an instructor in Animal Health Technology. he knowledge of animals has served her well in art for both the human and animal fugure. Pat says “For me the texture and playability is everything, the only downfall is the patience while it is drying….however with Gensis oils I can move on with a bit of heat. I started instructing Decorative art around the year 2000, it has been fun I taught in both acrylics and oils for awhile and now I only teach in traditional oils and Genisis. I feel it is important for all artists to paint in groups and take classes to push yourself to become the artist that you are and will be, by painting in groups it keeps you inspired. I am once again pushing my limits in the art field by taking the Fine Arts Certificate program at the University of Alberta and hope to complete it by 2014. Hopefully I can pass this foundation knowledge onto you when you are in my class. “
“A painting is never finished- it simply stops in interesting places” Paul Gardner

Mary Gibilisco believes that anyone can learn to create art – the only requirement is a desire to increase knowledge and painting skills. Her teaching method is patterned after the Old World Art Academies, in which the student learns the academic principles and techniques by duplicating the work of the Teacher/Master. Derek Wicks is a frequent guest instructor at Paint for Joy. Since he was young, he thrived on the knowledge of how things work and the challenge of recreating them. His creative journey began with building plastic model kits in perfect detail. As a painter, Wicks has developed a distinctive style with strong dominate lighting and solid crisp lines. He teaches his students to be themselves, and allow their strengths to define them. Learn more about Derek Wicks on his website.
