Start to Finish Workshop with Derek Wicks
Ducks Unlimited 2007
Canadian Fine Artist of the Year,
Derek Wicks
will be presenting a
5 day workshop
on the process of creating
your own art composition,
right from the photo
reference stage to completed painting.
Workshop Itinerary:
Day 1 - In The Field
We will start the workshop with an “in the field”
photo shoot. You will learn how to use
your camera and set up good composition.
Day 2 - Learning To Use Reference Materials
I will start this day with a slide presentation to
demonstrate different uses of composition
and camera effects. We will then review all participants
five best digital shots and discuss them. From these shots we
will choose one to use as our painting project for the next three days.
Day 3 - Color Matching & Blocking In
We will start our project today by color
matching and mixing our base colors for the project.
Day 4 &5 - Painting Our Project
We will spend the next two days painting our project.
We will end the workshop with a critique of our project.
